Tropical lines on smooth tropical surfaces

چکیده

Given a tropical line L on a tropical surface X, we define its combinatorial position on X to be a certain decorated graph, showing the relative positions of vertices of X on L, and how the vertices of L are positioned on X. We classify all possible combinatorial positions of a tropical line on general smooth tropical surfaces of any degree. This classification allows one to give an upper bound for the number of tropical lines on a general smooth tropical surface of degree ≥ 3 with a given subdivision. As a concrete example, we offer a subdivision for which the associated tropical surfaces are smooth cubics with exactly 27 tropical lines in the general case, and always at least 27 tropical lines. We also give examples of smooth tropical surfaces of arbitrary degree > 3 containing no tropical lines.

Smooth tropical surfaces with infinitely many tropical lines

We study the tropical lines contained in smooth tropical surfaces in R3. On smooth tropical quadric surfaces we find two one-dimensional families of tropical lines, like in classical algebraic geometry. Unlike the classical case, however, there exist smooth tropical surfaces of any degree with infinitely many tropical lines.

Obstructions to Approximating Tropical Curves in Surfaces via Intersection Theory

We provide some new local obstructions to approximating tropical curves in smooth tropical surfaces. These obstructions are based on the relation between tropical and complex intersection theories which is also established here. We give two applications of the methods developed in this paper. First we classify all locally irreducible approximable 3-valent fan tropical curves in a non-singular f...

Lifting Tropical Bitangents

We study lifts of tropical bitangents to the tropicalization of a given complex algebraic curve together with their lifting multiplicities. Using this characterization, we show that generically all the seven bitangents of a smooth tropical plane quartic lift in sets of four to algebraic bitangents. We do this constructively, i.e. we give solutions for the initial terms of the coefficients of th...

Characterization of dengue-2 virus binding to surfaces of mammalian and insect cells.

The binding of dengue type 2 (DEN-2) virus to mammalian (LLC-MK(2) and Vero) and mosquito (C6/36 and AP61) cell surfaces was investigated by a virus-binding assay using purified (3)H-labeled DEN-2 virus. The DEN-2 virus binding to all four cell types was specific and saturable, indicating the presence of a single class of receptors (ranging from 3.7 x 10(3) to 3.5 x 10(4) receptors/cell) with a...

Universal Families of Rational Tropical Curves Georges Francois and Simon Hampe

We introduce the notion of families of n-marked smooth rational tropical curves over smooth tropical varieties and establish a one-to-one correspondence between (equivalence classes of) these families and morphisms from smooth tropical varieties into the moduli space of n-marked abstract rational tropical curves Mn.
